CSFS’s new website: under the microscope

It’s time to crack out the breakfast cobs once more; Senior Internet has another exciting site launch to announce! The Chartered Society of Forensic Science’s new site launched this September, to great excitement within the organisation.

"Forensic Science has seen significant changes within the last 5 years. We at the Society aim to evolve to keep up with the pace of change and communicate with Members and the wider community more effectively."

Tom Nelson - President

Our history

We’ve been working with CSFS since December of last year. We really value the amount of time we get to spend with each membership organisation we work with, to learn as much about the society as possible. We spent months in workshops and meetings discussing their ideas and the needs of their members.

What did they want from their new site?

Like all membership associations, the website is an integral tool for engaging current and attracting new members. Beyond this they were looking for an online portal that would advertise and demonstrate the value for money which lies within CSFS membership, as well as elevating themselves to the position of the go to place for professionals within the forensic science industry. Another objective was to reduce administration overheads and streamline manual back office processes, to create an easier task of site management for CSFS staff.

Key features

A simple way of creating an engaging website, especially one which aims to be a one-stop-shop for a large industry like forensic science, is to make the site user friendly and easily navigable. If your site functionality is intuitive, encourages a smooth user-journey and presents information in an accessible way, visitors are more likely to naturally spend longer on the site. It’s a great way of encouraging repeat visits.

In order to ease administrative tasks, we integrated the CSFS site with our resident CRM, MemberBase, this means that the online join process, payments, subscriptions and self-service login areas are not only easy to use for members, but information is automatically stored securely, easily accessible to site administrators.

The site also boasts online publications with SSO access to Science and Justice online journal, as well as online event booking with integrated payment methods and an extensive course search function.

Achievements

The expected achievements can best be summed up again by CSFS president, Tom Nelson:

"I hope that we will now… quickly become a huge resource and go to website to quickly and easily track emerging information."
