The Challenge
Shoreham Port is one of
the largest cargo ports in the UK and is based on the South Coast of England.
We started working with the Port in 2004 when we were selected to undertake a
global rebranding exercise. The rebranding required logo redesign, brochureware
creation, website design and build, enewsletters, direct mail campaigns and
much more...
The commercial needs driving
the project lay with the need to promote the port and its services and raise
its profile. A direct result of this is will be the accommodating of business
growth. A further factor is to raise the standing of the Port within the local
community to gain their respect and trust.
The Approach
We started by performing
a full strategic marketing audit. The key themes that kept arising were the
need to promote openness, transparency and friendly efficiency in a way that
would support community relations as well as driving commercial opportunities.
Our next step was
redesigning the Shoreham Port logo, which was then used to inform the design of
supporting marketing material including: business cards, letterheads, website,
e-newsletters etc.
The website was created
using River CMS to allow total content flexibility. We also designed and built
a customised vessel tracking system, updateable and integrated within the
website.
The Results
The new branding, consistent across all marketing communications
has very successfully re-positioned the Port both commercially and within the
local community. The website also provides direct access to other marketing
communications like annual reports and newsletters. These links reinforce the
brand and creates a ‘suite of communications’.
The modernisation of the design and more informative
approach to all marketing communications has got the local community on board.
Furthermore, it has demonstrated the port raising its profile commercially as
well as supporting its growth.
The website has been a huge success, with visitors
increasing each year. Returning visitors are common to the site, particularly
on the news, tide information and vessel movements pages.
A well laid out and easy to navigate site has been of great
importance due to the vast amount of information available. It performs
extremely well in search engines for relevant phrases. The port has page one
listings in Google for their entire portfolio of services including ‘commercial
property rentals Shoreham’ and ‘dry dock facility’.
