High Profile Companies added to e-days Client List

RealNetworks, the company which created the RealPlayer found on millions of PCs, is to use e-days to manage its staff holidays and absences across its European network.

The software giant is the latest in a series of high profile organisations to enlist the help of e-days in managing their holiday and absence administration.

Shepherd and Wedderburn, a leading UK Law firm and PI Research – which manufactures motor racing parts for Maclaren’s F1 team, have also bought licences for the innovative, online system.

e-days is ideally suited to medium and large organisations with several sites, who want their HR department to be able to oversee holiday requests quickly and easily.

The online system boasts many innovative features that reduce the administration time required to make and authorise holiday requests.

Employees access their e-days package via the internet, view their holiday entitlement and make their requests for annual leave or absence through one central portal. Such requests are sent via email to HR managers for authorisation. Once confirmed, the days off are automatically added to a central calendar and the employee is notified by email.

As well as streamlined processes, the e-days system provides powerful analysis and reporting features to allow HR teams to monitor leave, keep accurate training records and understand sickness trends.

Being a web based management system, e-days is available whenever and wherever it is needed.

The flexibility of the system is one of the key factors in RealNetworks decision to switch to e-days: “Before testing e-days, our European staff made their holiday requests in writing. As the company grew the time required to handle this holiday administration increased dramatically plus the potential for error and for records to go astray also rose,” explains Hannah Smyth, Senior HR Director. “We looked at many online systems and have found e-days to be the most flexible and comprehensive in its functionality.”

Shepherd and Wedderburn has also signed up to the package this month. e-days now handles leave administration for the law firm’s three Scottish offices and its London practice.

“We wanted a system that would allow us to control and co-ordinate staff leave at all our sites and provide a way to schedule team meetings whilst ensuring all the necessary individuals were able to attend,” explains John Watson. “e-days provides us with the system we needed and we’ve been able to work with the development team to customise it even further to our needs. We estimate that it has cut down administration time by 45% and that’s a noticeable difference for our HR teams.”
